2018-2019 A Year in Review

The 2018-2019 year included:
- Organized and became an ACM-W Chapter May 21, 2018
- Total 20 paid professional members ($35/yr.) and 6 (no cost) student members
- Implemented Chapter communications: Facebook, List Serve for mailing and Google Docs infrastructure
- Developed a Chapter marketing brochure and officer business cards
- Sept. 12th Kick-off meeting at BGSU – 6 females shared their diverse computing careers (one year after the initial women in computing started)
- BGSU and UT Student Chapter Presidents and Tiffin University met in October to share their programs
- Tiffin University decided to start an ACM Student Chapter
- Chapter table at Toledo Tech Holiday Mixer on Dec. 6th
- Graphic design students in the BGSU School of Art worked on a branding package, developing our Chapter logo, a Marketing and web-site design.
- Participated in OCWIC -Ohio Community of Women in Computing – Feb.22-23, 2019, Sawmill Creek Resort, Huron, Ohio.
- Promoted Smart Cities Hackathon on Feb. 23-24th.
- Chapter member Karen David participated in University of Toledo’s “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” event for middle school girls on February 21st
- Networking dinner held at Poco Piatti’s, Levis Commons, Perrysburg on March 21st
- Promoted Speaker David Ryan Polgar , University of Findlay, Winebrenner Building “Emerging Tech & Ethics: What are the Best Practices with Today’s and
- Tomorrow’s Technology” on March 29th
- Hosted Dr. Helen Sun, Chief Technology Officer of STATS, the worldwide leader in sports data and intelligence talk on April 12th at BGSU
Chapter Goals for 2019-2020:
- More connections with the ACM-W Student Chapters; provide forum for networking
- Increased Professional Membership
- Host quality speaker and networking events
- Continue Social Media; Implement the Chapter Website & PayPal
- Partner with OCWIC for 2021 event
